WhAT IS THE GOAL OF CVAP?

The Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) offers financial assistance to assist victims and their immediate family members in managing the costs that can arise after a traumatic event. These costs may include financial loss, such as loss of income, property damage, and related expenses that result from the crime. The program recognizes the various financial losses victims may experience and aims to provide support for these economic impacts.

CVAP counselling is designed to help individuals rebuild their lives and regain a sense of safety and well-being. The program helps offset financial losses and supports victims in restoring their self-worth and ability to feel safe in their daily lives.

Who Can Benefit from CVAP Counselling Services?

The Crime Victims Assistance Program helps not only direct victims of crime but also immediate family members, as well as witnesses, in coping with the effects of violent crime.

Experiencing or witnessing a violent crime can cause mental health problems and trauma, as well as symptoms such as grief, loss, and psychological harm. Trauma can also impact self-esteem, self-worth, and professional life, but therapy can address these areas and support recovery.

If you are struggling due to experiencing a violent crime, CVAP counselling can help you work through any negative emotions and trauma you are feeling. You will learn skills to manage anxiety, build back confidence, and develop a path forward.
